Community Partners
In conjunction with leaders in the non-profit, government, corporate and academic sectors, VAWC is committed to achieving its mission of eliminating physical, sexual, and other forms of violence against women and children and the power imbalances that permit them.
One way this collaboration takes place is through the VAWC Advisory Board. Members meet on a quarterly basis to provide feedback and guidance to VAWC’s four areas of focus: Professional Training & Certification, Research, Community Partnerships, and MSW Education.
Some of the current VAWC Advisory Board member agencies include:
- Allstate Foundation Domestic Violence Program
- Essex, NJ Vicinage Superior Courts, Family Division
- Institute for Families, Rutgers School of Social Work
- Jersey Battered Women’s Services
- NJ Coalition for Battered Women
- NJ Department of Children & Families, Office of Domestic Violence and Family Support Services
- NJ Division on Women
- Rutgers Sexual Assault and Crime Victim Assistance Department
- Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration
- Rutgers School of Social Work
- Verizon Foundation, Domestic Violence and Healthcare Program
- Verizon Wireless
- Women Aware, Inc.
Each of VAWC’s four areas of focus (Professional Training & Certification Research, Community Partnerships and MSW Education) has a steering committee made up of VAWC Advisory Board members as well as other community representatives. Steering committees help guide VAWC activities relevant to that particular steering committee’s focus area and provide a venue for input and collaboration.
